"Tulane employees donated $140,000 for this year's United Way/Community Shares campaign as of mid-December," said Frank Currie, director of employee relations and staff development.
United Way received $112,000 in donations and Community Shares received $28,000 from Tulane faculty and staff. Although that total lagged behind last year's $150,000 total, donations were still being accepted through the end of December.
"We appreciate everyone contributing," Currie added. "President Scott Cowen had encouraged the campus to pay special attention to this year's drive because New Orleans really needs your donations now."
Employees who pledged at least $75 for the year were treated to a luncheon on Oct. 24 sponsored by the Office of Human Resources. Drawings for prizes were held at the luncheon, with the top prize going to Amy Prudhomme, grants management officer for the School of Social Work. She won two airline tickets good for anywhere in the continental United States.
