The Owl Club, a student-run organization that evaluates teachers and courses at the medical school, issued the following awards at its May 5 ceremony:

Outstanding department: medicine

Outstanding clinical course: pediatrics

First year Outstanding course: gross anatomy

Outstanding teaching awards: Gerald Kirby, associate professor, structural and cellular biology (first semester); Catherine Cusick, professor, structural and cellular biology (second semester)

Second year Outstanding course: pharmacology

Outstanding teaching awards: John Clements, professor and chair of microbiology (first semester); Marc Kahn, associate professor of medicine (second semester)

Third year Clinical teaching awards Family medicine: Rick Streiffer, professor and chair

Medicine: Elma LeDoux, associate professor

Obstetrics/gynecology: Chi Dola, assistant professor

Pediatrics: Theresa Dise, assistant professor

Psychiatry and neurology: Carlos Garcia, professor; Joseph Roniger, clinical assistant professor

Surgery:
Aml Rafaat, assistant professor

Fourth year Outstanding teaching: Ronald Amadee, professor and chair of otolaryngology; Laurence Durante, clinical assistant professor of family medicine; Robert L. Hopkins, associate professor of pediatrics; Elma LeDoux, associate professor of medicine
