Make way for kids this summer. Tulane has a busy schedule of camps lined up through June and July. The granddaddy of summer camps is Tulane's own Ripples, the recreational sports camp held for the past 10 summers at the Reily Student Recreation Center.

The camp, which features recreational activities, entertainment and special field trips for children ages 5-13, is also accredited by the American Camping Association. This year's two-week sessions run from June 7-18, June 21-July 2, July 6-16 and July 19-30.

Dependents of Tulane faculty, staff and students receive a discounted fee of $250 per session (plus $50 registration fee). Contact director Bruce Bershad at 865-5431 for more information. Also offering discounts to Tulane dependents is a camp new to campus: The American Computer Experience (ACE).

The ACE camp comes to Tulane June 20-July 16, providing computer instruction at all ability levels for commuter or overnight campers ages 7-16. Tulane faculty and staff dependents receive a 25-percent fee discount, which comes to $420 per week for commuters and $645 per week for overnight campers. Further multiple-week discounts are also available. Register by June 1 to avoid a $50 late fee. Call 1-800-494-2724.

Tulane Green Wave sports camps are also in full force this summer. They include the Rick Jones baseball camps (day camps, hitting academy and overnight showcase camp), 862-8239; Betsy Becker Ferrer Summer Volleyball Camp Series (all skills camps in Mandeville and at Tulane), 865-5504; Green Wave Girls' Basketball Camp (guard/post camp, day camp and team camp), 865-5672; Perry Clark Basketball Camp, 865-5505; Junior Tennis Camp (boys and girls), 865-5503; and the Chris Scelfo Tulane Football Camp (865-5358).

Two other national sports camps not related to Green Wave teams come to Tulane this summer. The Ray Guy Kicking Academy is on campus June 5-6 teaching football kicking and punting (502-843-8393). Offering similar instruction is Dick Pierce's Kicking Services Camp, which visits Tulane June 11-13 (775-787-7889).
