Richard Greenleaf Honored

The Greenleaf Conference Room at Joseph Merrick Jones Hall was dedicated on April 10 to honor Richard F. Greenleaf, the France Vinton Scholes Professor of Colonial Latin American History and director of the Center for Latin American Studies.

Greenleaf, who is retiring in May, arrived at Tulane in 1969. He is the recognized expert on the Inquisition in the New World and the author or editor of 11 books and co-author of more than a dozen others.

Under his stewardship, the Center for Latin American Studies has raised more than $15 million and has been ranked by the federal government and private agencies among the top three Latin American studies programs in the United States.
