I want to thank our faculty and staff for their cooperation, patience and assistance during the Hurricane Georges emergency. Never having experienced a hurricane threat, much less a hurricane (chalk it up to being a Northerner), I can't tell you how impressed I was with how everyone on campus handled this difficult situation.
During the time leading up to the storm as well as during the storm, Tulane's administrative staff (uptown and downtown) and many volunteers performed their jobs with skill and competence under fire.
It is impossible for me to individually acknowledge everyone who worked during the hurricane. However, those in public safety, student affairs, physical plant services, computing, housing and residence life, Marriott dining services, health services, and auxiliary services, including all the comparable services downtown, worked around the clock before, during and immediately following the storm.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your dedication. I also hope that all of our faculty and staff, and their families, came safely through the storm with little or minimal damage to your personal property. We have learned a lot from this experience that will better prepare us for the next emergency situation. Hopefully, the next one will not occur any time soon.
