The final tallying's done--and the numbers look good. This fall, Tulane's freshman class for the four undergraduate colleges--Newcomb, Tulane, Architecture and Engineering--includes 1,396 students. These students have an average Scholastic Aptitude Test score of 1281.
Richard Whiteside, dean of undergraduate admission and enrollment management, said, "We are thrilled with the class. It's not only a large class, but a strong one." The large class size--almost 75 freshmen above original projections--meant a scrambling and rearranging of housing assignments to accommodate all the students wanting to live on campus.
At final count, 3,235 students (freshmen and upperclassmen) are living on campus this fall, according to Denise Taylor, director of housing and residence life.
