Members of the Soul Steppers Walking Club, part of the Bunny Friend Neighborhood Association in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans, in this video show how they are exercising their way to better health one step at a time, with a public health program initiated by the Tulane Prevention Research Center.

By walking together three days a week for two miles, members of the group find they’re getting stronger and healthier. “The point of it is to get New Orleans to be a healthier city,” says Frieda Brown of the Prevention Research Center.

The center launched its Neighborhood Ambassador Program earlier this year to connect neighborhood groups such as the Soul Steppers to health-related resources and programs, in partnership with the American Association of Retired Persons.
