Edible Schoolyard

First-year student Lauren Baker, left, and her mom, Jamie, pitch in at the Edible Schoolyard Garden at Samuel J. Green Charter School in uptown New Orleans. The two participated in the Open Garden Day, which Edible Schoolyard hosts regularly at its three school sites to foster community participation in their school-based gardens. Lauren works with Edible Schoolyard as a service-learning project through her Environmental Ethics class at Tulane University. Jamie, who hails from Chicago, was in town for Homecoming and Family Weekend (Nov. 2-4) and wanted to volunteer alongside Lauren.
