The 30-year-old will share the inspiring story behind his success and interview Tulane University alumnus and Reddit general manager Erik Martin about his career path after graduation. Martin received a bachelor’s degree with a major in American studies from Tulane in 1999.

The event, which is free and open to the public, begins with a networking event at 4 p.m. in Freeman Auditorium on the uptown campus, followed by Ohanian’s lecture at 5 p.m. Advance registration is required.

The lecture is part of Ohanian’s cross-country tour promoting internet entreprenurship and his new book, Without Their Permission, which he calls both a blueprint and a rallying cry for the open internet and entrepreneurship.

“What I want to promote is how our generation has a tremendous opportunity to do amazing things online. We’re all still figuring out just what kind of an impact the Internet will have on the world — let’s be the ones doing it,” Ohanian says. “This isn’t just my story; it’s the stories of your successful alums as well as current students, all learning from and contributing to the greatest platform for ideas the world has ever seen (the Internet).”

Ohanian and Steve Huffman started Reddit in 2005 after graduating from the University of Virginia. They sold the company to publishing giant Condé Nast 16 months later. Today Ohanian sits on the board of Reddit, which has more than 80 million unique visitors and is one of the 50 biggest U.S. websites.
