Bryan Batt is a Tulane alumnus with a successful Hollywood, Broadway and television career, but on Friday (Nov. 2) he’s taking on a new role on campus. Batt will be the auctioneer on Friday (Nov. 2) during Homecoming weekend for the 11th annual Helluva Hullabaloo Auction.

He will wield the gavel for a good cause — to raise funds for Tulane student-athletes at a live and silent auction event that has become a major fundraiser for the university, thanks to donations of hundreds of items that will go to the highest bidders.

Batt said he’s proud to play the role of civic activist and help out his alma mater. He sent a this video message to the Tulane community.

“My family taught me at an early age that it is my duty to give back to my community whenever possible,” he said. “So when asked to emcee, host or serve as auctioneer, if my schedule allows, I show up. You never know what wonderful things may happen or great people you may meet if you do, and what you may miss if you don’t.”

No matter where they live, Tulane supporters can’t miss out on the auction because it’s also held online on CharityBuzz.com. Bidding is already under way online for premier travel packages to London, France and the Sonoma, Calif., wine country; dove hunting in Argentina; lunch in Los Angeles with Doug Ellin, creator of HBO’s "Entourage;" golf trips to top-fight courses; a ride in the Orpheus Mardi Gras parade; tickets to the U.S. Open and the Sugar Bowl, and much more.

Bidders should note the statement, “The proceeds for this item benefit Tulane University” on the bottom right hand side of the bid page before making a bid.

Friday’s auction-goers also will have a myriad of bidding opportunities including sports memorabilia signed by pro athletes from Drew Brees to Peyton Manning to Allen Iverson, tickets to national sports events, certificates for dining at leading New Orleans restaurants, golf packages and hot tickets to the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “LIVE with Kelly and Michael.”

Potential bidders can view the catalog of auction items online. Anyone interested in placing absentee bids can find more information here.

In addition, a raffle is under way that offers $50 chances for a Rolex Datejust watch valued at $6,600.

“The Helluva Hullabaloo auction truly offers something for everyone,” auction chair Jill Glazer said. “So many people who love Tulane and New Orleans are involved in the success of this event, and I’m grateful to everyone who participates. We are on pace to surpass last year’s record amount raised to support our Green Wave student-athletes, year-round.”
