In the next few weeks, recently retired Times-Picayune columnist Angus Lind will begin to promote Prime Angus, a compilation of selected pieces from his 32 years as a columnist for the New Orleans daily newspaper. Lind talks about his book and career in this video.

Barely into his retirement from The Times Picayune, Angus Lind talks about his favorite columns and his new book in
this video produced by Nick Marinello.

A graduate of Tulane, Lind has over the years been a staunch supporter of the university, and stories about his alma mater often have appeared among the 5,800 pieces he wrote for the paper. Chris Rose, a colleague at the Picayune, once quipped that all Lind wrote about were UFOs, Tulane and "Buddy D"— the late Buddy Diliberto, a colorful New Orleans sportscaster.

"Very rarely did I write about anything really serious," says Lind. "For the most part my column entertained and amused people. The goal was to capture the flavor of the city."

Fans of Lind's columns can attend a number of book signings with the author, including these: Sept. 24, 6 p.m., Bruno's, 5538 Maple St.; Sept. 30, 7 p.m., Jefferson Parish Public Library, 4747 W. Napoleon Ave. in Metairie; Oct. 1, 6 p.m., Octavia Books, 513 Octavia St.; and Oct. 2, 7 p.m., Borders, 3338 St. Charles Ave.

Lind, who joined The Times-Picayune in 1970, retired from the paper this past May.
