The 2011 Tulane Spirit Competition asks spirited Tulane fans to submit a photo of themselves displaying a cutout of Riptide, the university mascot. Prizewinners will be named on Oct. 21 as part of Homecoming and Family Weekend.
“We want to showcase that Tulanians are everywhere, making a difference around the globe,” says Laurie Orgeron, homecoming committee chair, “so we designed a contest to encourage photos from near and far, as well as participants showing their interpretation of Tulane spirit.”
Contestants can choose from three theme options: a unique or remote location, alumni sporting their Tulane rings, or school spirit.
Three entries will win $100, with three additional runners-up winning $50.
“Whether Tulanians can make it to homecoming this year or a future date, we want to see their entry for the 2011 contest,” says Orgeron. “It’s free to enter, and takes only a couple of minutes and a little creativity.”
Tulane alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff and fans, as well as university departments and organizations, are encouraged to submit original photos for the spirit competition. There’s a downloadable Riptide cutout online. Photo submissions are due by Oct. 16. For details and to get a Riptide cutout, visit the competition website.
