After the temperatures rise and most students clear out, the Tulane University uptown campus is the home of “some of the best musical theater in the region,” says Michael Howard, artistic director of the Summer Lyric Theatre at Tulane. In this video, he talks about why musical theater is important, how his cast and crew pull off three shows in a nine-week span, and why Summer Lyric is still popular after 45 years.
The next Summer Lyric Theatre show taking the Dixon Hall stage is Anything Goes, Cole Porter's age-old tale of boy-meets-girl (and the complications that follow), directed and choreographed by Diane Lala, opening on Thursday (July 12).
