Those living in New Orleans know that preparation is key to enjoying all of the exciting festivals and events the city has to offer. Now that Tulane University is revving up for its first home football game on Saturday, Sept. 6, there’s no better time to start readying for the Yulman Stadium game day experience than now.

Later this summer, here in the Insider, we’ll address what to wear and what to take with you to the stadium. But this week’s announcement of campus parking restrictions will be the topic of the day.

Check out the list below for things you should know and how to be prepared.

Know: All campus parking permits will be invalid on game days.
Prepare: Game days are fun days so don’t get trapped in traffic. All faculty and staff vehicles must be removed from campus by 10 p.m. the night before all home games. Students with residential parking permits will be required to park on the top two floors of the Diboll Center.

Know: You can only enter campus by foot or bicycle on game days.
Prepare: Inevitably, some nonresidential students, faculty and staff members may have business on campus on a game day. If you must get to campus, consider having someone drop you near your destination, take public transportation or ride a bike. This will eliminate the need to find parking. Remember to reserve a little extra time to get there. We’re expecting lots of visitors!

Know: Cars parked on campus after 10 p.m. on the night before a game will be towed.
Prepare: The early bird gets the worm. Don’t wait until dark to move your car from campus. Head to the grocery store early for those pre-game snacks.

Know: If you are driving to the game, Tulane University will offer many designated parking lots for fans.
Prepare: Carpool to one of the designated parking lots and catch a complimentary shuttle to Yulman Stadium.

Know: The home football game schedule is available.
Prepare: Mark your calendars ahead of time. Knowing when is half the battle.
