Tulane University faculty and staff can now get fast-access appointments with Tulane doctors thanks to the new Tulane Appointment Desk, a concierge service that makes it easier for employees to access health care within the university’s physician network.
The service line — 504-988-TUMD (8863) — is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, or via email at DoctorsVisit@tulane.edu.
The appointment desk will respond to after-hours messages at the beginning of the next business day.
“We are committed to improving service and access for Tulane faculty and staff,” says Dr. Timothy Harlan, assistant dean for clinical services at Tulane University School of Medicine. “We have a lot of capacity for taking new patients. In the last year we have hired seven new primary care providers — two in the downtown clinic, two at University Square and three at Tulane-Lakeside. Many of these doctors have capacity for same-day or next-day scheduling.”
Shanta Williams is running the appointment desk and can assist with scheduling follow-up appointments, referrals and rescheduling.
Williams also is able to help Tulane employees plan their free preventative care exam that is part of the coming benefit year. Employees have until the end of October to schedule their preventative care exams to count toward the 2015 Health Reimbursement Account incentive.
