Dr. Vivian Fonseca

During the American Diabetes Association’s 74th Scientific Sessions, the world’s largest diabetes-specific meeting to share cutting-edge research, treatment recommendations and advances toward a cure for diabetes, Expertscape recognized the top institutions and medical experts in the research and treatment of Type 2 diabetes mellitus.

The searchable database of diabetes experts and facilities on the Expertscape website lists Tulane University physician Dr. Vivan Fonseca as the No. 2 expert in Type 2 diabetes.

Fonseca, who holds the Tullis-Tulane Alumni Chair in Diabetes at Tulane, is chief of the Section of Endocrinology in the Department of Medicine.

During the scientific sessions in San Francisco June 13–17, press announcements are expected about two studies in which Fonseca and the Tulane Diabetes Research Program have participated.

Expertscape defines an expert as someone who has published peer-reviewed research in the science, therapies and complications for a specific medical topic.

The Expertscape medical search and ranking solution uses objective algorithms to identify the most knowledgeable and experienced doctors and medical institutions in 26,000 specific topics, stratified by geography.
