Cafe Reconcile

Duwaine Shelley, right, serves bites of tuna to Julia Strasser during a party held by the Tulane Center for Public Service at Café  Reconcile on Monday (May 13) afternoon. Strasser is a community ambassador of Bayou Land, one of more than 400 local organizations who work with Tulane service-learning internship students. The event, which featured local cuisine and live music,  brought together the community partners with Tulane faculty, staff and students involved in public service. Shelley is a part-time graduate trainer in culinary arts at Café Reconcile, a nonprofit restaurant that provides life skills and job training to youth from at-risk communities in the New Orleans area.
