Chefs from around New Orleans are pitching in to prepare the spread for an all-you-can-eat buffet featuring authentic Philippine cuisine. Proceeds from the meal will benefit charities serving the island country that was hit hard by Typhoon Haiyan last November.

Tulane Dining Services by Sodexo is sponsoring the event in the hope of bringing together New Orleans’ love of good food with support for a global family. It also offers an inexpensive chance to try delicious foods while contributing to charity.

“We organized this event as a way reaching a helping hand from our city to an international community in need,” says Thomas Beckmann, general manager of Tulane Dining Services. “After eight years, parts of New Orleans are still suffering from the effects of Hurricane Katrina, so we know what it’s like to work together and rebuild after a natural disaster. That means we’re in a unique position to help the Philippines cope with the aftermath of Super Typhoon Haiyan.”

The buffet luncheon including Philippine specialties such as Leche Flan and Tinola will be held Friday (April 4) from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. All cash proceeds from the event will be donated to NOLA Loves the Philippines.

Every $600 raised buys one new fishing boat and the necessary equipment for a Philippine family to support itself.

The event will be in the Bruff Commons Dining Room on the Tulane University uptown campus. Admission is $6 at the door (cash only) for the all-you-can-eat buffet.
