 Scott Cowen and Dr. John

It was a festive evening in New York City on Tuesday (April 1) when Tulane President Scott Cowen, right, was honored at the Beads on Broadway New York Mardi Gras Gala. Headlining the event was renowned New Orleans musician Dr. John, left, who performed with his band, The Nite Trippers.

Setting for Beads on Broadway event

The Chelsea Piers along the Hudson River provided a scenic setting for the gala, attended by alumni and friends of Tulane to pay tribute to President Cowen, who steps down as president on June 30. The event also was a fundraiser for the Cowen Scholarship Fund at Tulane. Similar events were held in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and New Orleans City Park.
