Music and the drive for clean energy combine forces when the Hip Hop Caucus Clean Energy Now! Bus Tour arrives on the Tulane University uptown campus today (Feb. 18).

The tour, which is kicking off in New Orleans, includes a "Student Forum and Celebration for a Renewed Economy and Healthier Communities." The event takes place from 7–9 p.m. in the Kendall Cram Lecture Hall at the Lavin-Bernick Center.

Celebrities and experts discussing the clean energy movement will include DJ Biz Markie; D Woods, hip-hop and R and B star formerly from MTV's "Making the Band;" Gloria Reuben, TV star from such programs as "ER" and "Law & Order: SVU;" the Rev. Lennox Yearwood Jr., president and CEO of the Hip Hop Caucus; and Sess 4-5, New Orleans hip-hop artist and community leader.

The Tulane event is sponsored by the environmental affairs office, Center for Bioenvironmental Research, Center for Public Service, multicultural affairs office and student affairs. Admission is free of charge and open to the public.

The Hip Hop Caucus has joined with the Alliance for Climate Protection's Repower America campaign and a diverse coalition of partners for the bus tour that also will visit Indiana, Arkansas, Missouri and Washington, D.C., for community rallies, roundtables on college campuses, tours of clean energy job sites and musical events.
