Zemurray leader Stephanie Feoli joins Tulane board

Stephanie Feoli, director of the Zemurray Foundation, a major supporter of Tulane University, has joined the Board of Tulane, the university’s main governing body.

Feoli earned her master’s in Latin American studies from Tulane, after receiving her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Union College in New York.

At Tulane, Feoli and the Zemurray Foundation have established the France Vintor Scholes Chair of Colonial Latin American Studies, the Richard E. Greenleaf Distinguished Chair in Latin American Studies, the Samuel Z. Stone Chair of Public Health in Latin American Studies, the Doris Stone Librarian and Professor of Latin American Studies, and the Samuel Z. Stone Chair in Economics.

“Stephanie and her family have been vital to the success of Tulane for nearly a century. We are delighted to have her join us in this leadership role,” Tulane University President Scott Cowen said.

Feoli said, “I am so pleased to be working with Tulane in this capacity. These are exciting times for the university and the city.”

At Tulane, the Zemurray Foundation and family members have founded, funded or provided support for the Middle American Research Institute, the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, the Roger Thayer Stone Center for Latin American Studies, the Tulane president’s home and numerous endowed chairs, professorships, postdoctoral fellowships and residence halls.

Feoli also is the chair of the Audubon Nature Institute. She is a member of the board of the New Orleans Museum of Art and the advisory committee of the International Center for the Arts of the Americas at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston.

She has served on the boards of Union College, Cushing Academy in Massachusetts, Isidore Newman School, Young Audiences, the Contemporary Arts Center, the Louisiana SPCA and the New Orleans Arts Council. She is also a member of Women of the Storm.
