Lewis is a practicing attorney in the areas of criminal defense, civil rights and employment discrimination. She has been interviewed on such topics as Nelson Mandela and use of racial slurs, and she has lectured on such topics as education reform post-Katrina and black women’s health. Named a New Orleans Magazine Top Female Achiever in 2013, Lewis is currently working on two books -- “Black Women’s Health in the Age of Hip Hop & HIV/AIDS” and “Before & After Katrina: Black Education in New Orleans.
