Rebecca Chen is from Chengu, Sichuan, China and has lived in Florida before moving to New Orleans. She is a Biomedical Engineering major who is also considering Pre-med. In terms of future research plans, she is interested in working with Central Nervous system Tissue Regeneration which looks at possibilities of guiding axon growth in simulated systems with an integration of growth factors and proteins. In her free time, she likes to read blogs and random magazines and explores ideas of social entrepreneurship and innovations. Rebecca is involved with Tulane University's Vietnamese association and Asian American Student Union.
Rebecca is currently interning with the Student Conservation Association at Gateway National Recreation Area in Sandy Hook, New York. She is working as a Water Safety Interpreter Intern and is providing informal interpretation and education on water safety to visitors who are using non-guarded beaches on Sandy Hook.
