Powerful speakers

The Powerhouse Speaker Series raises awareness of women's contributions to society by featuring influential women across academic disciplines and professions who are role models for women.

The series allows students to interact with women leaders who have diverse careers, research areas and backgrounds. Each year, speakers meet with students to share stories about their professional and personal journeys.

Past Powerhouse Speakers include publisher/activist Gloria Steinem, composer/historian Bernice Johnson Reagon, atmospheric scientists/hurricane hunters Robbie Hood and Michelle Mainelli, architect Ila Berman, and filmmaker and an environmentalist Céline Cousteau.
