Elizabeth Bellino
Young Alumna Award

Elizabeth Bellino (NC ’98), M.D., MPH & TM, is a pediatrician whose interests include international health and infectious diseases. Originally from Alexandria, Virginia, she is now based in New Orleans and remains active as a Pediatric consultant for international and national organizations. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology from Tulane University. She then received her Master's Degree in Public Health and Tropical Medicine from Tulane University as well.

Dr. Bellino completed her medical education at St. George's University School of Medicine. She began her pediatric training at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, and completed her training at Tulane University. After completing her pediatric residency, she received a 2 year fellowship grant in Global Health and worked as an Associate Professor of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Tulane University. She also spent 11 months in Uganda where she helped develop the pediatric ward of a rural hospital.

Dr. Bellino was in Haiti as one of the first pediatric responders to the earthquake in 2010, where she worked at the United Nations Field Hospital. She remains very interested and active in disaster relief and humanitarian aid in both Haiti and East Africa. She recently co-authored a chapter in the Textbook of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, and has started an organization, Littletembo, with her sister to help the medical needs of children in East Africa.
