selfDale Shuger, Visiting Assistant Professor

Dale Shuger received her Ph.D. from New York University in 2008 and taught at Columbia University in New York before coming to Tulane. Her research focuses on 16th and 17th century Spain, with particular interests in the varied expressions of early modern subjectivity. Her book Don Quixote in the Archives: Madness in Life and Literature in Early Modern Spain (Edinburgh University Press 2012) was a study of the relationship between madness in Don Quixote and the lived experience of madness of early modern Spaniards. She is currently working on a book examining the discourses of visions and demonic possession across Spanish and Spanish American society in the early modern period.
