Linnette F. Reed received a Licenciatura (M.A.) in History, Geography and Art from Universidad de Salamanca, Spain., an M.A. in Romance Languages from Texas A&M University and a Ph. D. in Spanish from Tulane University. She has taught European History, Art History, Hispanic Civilization and Culture, and Spanish, French and Portuguese language and literature. Dr. Reed was Professor and Chair of the Department of Foreign Languages at Southern University at New Orleans where she served for seven years. She also taught at Amherst College, Massachusetts before coming to Tulane. She has several publications on Spanish Golden Age Literature. Her book Protofeminismo, erotismo y comida en La Lozana Andaluza explores early models of feminism as well as Renaissance erotica. Dr. Reed has done extensive research and presentations on Contemporary Spanish Peninsular Women’s Literature and is currently working on the book The Hispanic Reader, a multicultural and multilingual critical anthology in collaboration with professor Ilan Stavans. This book is under contract with Yale University Press and forthcoming in 2009. She’s also working on another book The Role of the Port of New Orleans During the Flourishing Years of the United Fruit Company in Central America.
