Research Interests
Dr. Arnett's areas of specialization in sociology are education, race and ethnicity, and social stratification, with her work focusing on international comparisons, especially in the Latin American region.
Current Research Projects
Her most recent work has focused on the quality of education and its relationships with inequality in modern societies. Her current cross-national research continues this line of work by examining how family socioeconomic status, school factors, and the structural characteristics of nations interact in order to produce educational stratification, and identifying specific contexts that weaken the relationship between social class and academic outcomes.
