POLS 101 - Introduction to Politics
An introductory course with a required public service learning component that focuses on "grassroots" politics and explores the role and nature of citizen engagements in American civic and political life, historical and contemporary trends, community organizing, and "hands on" experience in civic and political activism.
POLA 210 - American Government
This course is an introduction to American government and the structures, institutions, and processes that shape the American political system.
POLA 302 - Religion and American Politics
This course is designed to acquaint students with the role of religion in American politics.
Major areas of emphasis will include: the historical relationship of religion and politics; the influence of religion on current political culture, electoral coalitions, public opinion, and voting behavior; the role of religion as a political resource particularly in the African-American community; and the emergence of the modern "religious right."
