MAXIM SAMAROV

Tulane University Orchestra is conducted by Dr. Maxim Samarov. A native of Moscow, Russia, Maestro Samarov has previously served on the faculty of St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, MN, and Luther College in Decorah , Iowa. His work with various orchestras has been consistently praised for raising the artistic quality of performance to the level previously considered unattainable for the group in question. Attention to phrasing, orchestral color and balance are hallmarks of his style. Dr. Samarov has performed extensively as a cello soloist, chamber music player and orchestra member in Russia, Europe, Israel, and the United States along with maintaining a busy schedule as a string and orchestra clinician and adjudicator.

For additional information please contact Dr. Samarov at msamarov@tulane.edu or the Department of Music at 504-862-3214.
