Professor Oldenburg specializes in 16th and 17th century British literary and cultural studies. He has published on Shakespeare, early travel narratives, royal pageantry, and city comedies. His current book project, Alien Albion: Literature and Immigration in Early Modern England, argues that several literary texts of the period imaginatively address ways of forging multicultural communities in the period. Scott Oldenburg teaches courses on Shakespeare, Renaissance drama, Spenser, British literature survey, and a number of special topics in the period including early modern gender studies, early encounters in the New World and Africa, and English and Spanish drama.
