Student Awarded Grant

 

Bethany Coan, a senior majoring in Communication, won a Newcomb Institute grant to attend the Open Student Television Network Media Fest in Cleveland, Ohio this October.  There, her documentary, The Hole Story, made with Georgia Daniels, will be judged in the category Best Documentary.  Coan and Daniels made the documentary in the class COMM360 this past Spring.  “Not only will there be young, aspiring filmmakers at the convention, but there will also be professionals who are hosting the daily workshops and discussion panels,” said Coan.  “I plan on professionally working on film after graduation in 2009 and I see this as a great chance to plunge into my first level of the movie media world.”
