The purpose of the President’s Spirit Trophy Competition is to promote school spirit leading up to Homecoming Week. This year’s competition is themed “Gumby Goes Green” as we encourage two types of “green” entries, both school-spirited and environment-friendly. Prizes up to $100 and bragging rights are up for grabs.
Teams will be made up of 1 – 10 members. Teams can consist of members from varying departments, faculty, staff, students, or any combination of the three. Larger departments are encouraged to sponsor more than one “Gumby.”Each entry is eligible to win only one category and prize.
President’s Spirit Trophy = Best Overall Entry
Prize = Possession of the Spirit Trophy for 1 year and $100 award
Most Spirited Entry
Prize = $75 award
Most Environmental-Friendly Entry
Prize = $50 award
Honorable Mention(s) will be awarded to the Newcomb Nursery and/or Kidopolis Nursery if they submit entries to the competition. They will be awarded a pizza party for their participation.

Step 2: Pick up your Gumby cutout
You can pick up your Gumby cutout when you turn in your completed registration form and entry fee of $30 to Laurie Orgeron in McAlister Auditorium (inside to the right). Please call 504-865-5614 or 504-458-6087 to ensure Laurie is in the office prior to going to McAlister.

Step 4: Turn in your “Gumby” by Monday, Oct. 5 by 3 p.m. – NEW EXTENDED DEADLINE!
Judging will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 7. A team of judges from the President’s Office will judge the “blind” competition. Team identification will not be displayed allowing the judges to be totally impartial. Winners will be announced on Friday, October 9. All Gumbys will be displayed during Homecoming Week in the James Lounge of the LBC.
