Meet our Staff

Karen

Karen Hochheiser MA, is a Health Educator for the Office of Wellness Services in the Division of Student Affairs. She helps facilitate BASICS along with other alcohol education programming. Ms. Hochheiser is originally from Maryland and received her BA in psychology from Clark University where her passion for college student wellness began. She completed her MA in Higher and Postsecondary education at the University of Michigan. While at Michigan, she pursued her interest in Health Education through a graduate student position in University Health Service's Alcohol and other Drug Prevention Program. She has been at Tulane since 2010.

Maeghan

Maeghan Livaccari LCSW, works as the Associate Director of Wellness Services in the Division of Student Affairs at Tulane University. Her role entails alcohol prevention and education. A native of New Orleans, she has been with Tulane since 2008. She received her Master in Social Work from the Tulane School of Social Work. Before working in higher education, she worked as a therapist in community settings with a focus of mental health and substance abuse.

Cara

Cara McCarthy MPH, is a Health Educator for the Office of Wellness Services in the Division of Student Affairs. Originally from Oregon, she received her BA in Sociology from the University of Oregon, and  has been living in New Orleans since 2008. Cara received her Masters of Public Health from Tulane University's School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and has been working with wellness issues on Tulane's campus for 2  years. Before moving to New Orleans, Cara was a community health education Peace Corps volunteer and worked in Madagascar. Cara's primary interest is in health education.

Scott

Scott Tims PhD, is the Director of the Center for Wellness & Health Promotion, part of Student Health Services. He has a PhD in Public Health from Florida International University and has been at Tulane since 2008. His work and background has focused on communicable diseases with an emphasis on HIV prevention. He has experience in program evaluation and mental health, both in a university and community setting.
