Tulane students anticipating travel abroad, especially to developing countries, should call to make an appointment with the Travel Clinic to discuss immunizations, malaria prophylaxis and specific health concerns. We recommend an appointment at least three months in advance for your optimal preparation.
We offer Travel Clinic in both the Uptown and the Downtown Student Health Centers. Uptown, Travel appointments are in Primary Care, 504 865-5255 x1, and downtown Travel Clinic is in the Elks Place, 504 988-6929. If you have traveled before and have records of travel immunizations you have received, it is very important to bring those records to your visit. We charge a Travel Clinic fee which covers the cost of the visit, which generally lasts 1.5 hours. This visit includes education and information specific to your destination. Immunizations and prescriptions recommended are not included in this visit fee.
All fees can be charged to accounts receivable or paid by credit card or check. Missed appointments will be charged our standard no show fee. Our Travel Clinic offers all immunizations recommended for college students, wherever you may travel. Medications that your trip may require are readily available at the Student Health Center Pharmacy.
If you are planning a semester abroad or any travel and have a health form that requires a physician's signature, please call to request a travel physical appointment with a physician-this is a different appointment than one for Travel Clinic. If your travel/semester abroad will be anywhere other than Western Europe, we recommend that you also request an appointment in Travel Clinic for education and immunizations.
