Stress Management

When: Tuesdays at 4:00pm

Feeling Anxious, Nervous or Overwhelmed? 

Gather Tools to Combat Stress and Live a More Relaxed and Stress Free Life!

This group will focus on developing tools or skills to better cope with stress.  Using a mindfulness/cognitive-behavioral approach, participants will learn how to reduce anxiety, nervousness, worry and panic.  The first half of group will be education.  The second half will included guided meditation/relaxation and discussion.  Skills presented include:

  • Cultivating Self Awarenss
  • Mindfulness
  • Meditation
  • Deep Breathing
  • Progressive Muscle Relaxation
  • Body Awareness Techniques
  • Guided Imagery
  • Thought Stopping
  • Planning and Scheduling
  • Good Stress and Stress Embracing

Before joining a group, students must meet with a counselor to deteremine if a particular group is a good fit for them.  To speak with a counselor about joining a group, please call 504-314-2277 (CAPS) to set up an appointment.
