SASS provides a safe, supportive atmosphere for women who have survived sexual assault. With the help of the group therapist, survivors will share experiences, receive support and understanding, and learn coping skills as they heal from this trauma. Through sharing of their experiences, the group members can discover they are not alone in their emotional pain. The group's goals are to give and receive support, break the silence, identify with other survivors, and develop understanding and perspective. Acceptance, support, and validation from the foundation of this group.
Before joining a group, students must meet with a counselor to deteremine if a particular group is a good fit for them. To speak with a counselor about joining a group, please call 504-314-2277 (CAPS) to set up an appointment.
