Parent Information: Supporting Your Student

Welcome to the website of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS).  CAPS provides a wide range of services to Tulane students. For many students the primary need will be support in dealing with transition to college life. We encourage students and families to consider resources needed as you prepare for transition to university life. For other students there are identified mental health needs prior to matriculation to college.

Students with a history of mental health care prior to matriculation are encouraged to initiate contact with CAPS before the start of the school year. We will work with you to develop a treatment plan for support during your years of study at Tulane.

Our services to students are confidential, with some exceptions that we discuss with each of the students we see. We acknowledge the importance of knowing your student is being supported while at Tulane, but for those over the age of 18, we are not at liberty to disclose any information regarding potential or ongoing treatment without their written consent. We appreciate your understanding.

You are also encouraged to visit Tulane's Office of Disability Services for information about applying to receive accommodations for a disability.
