All full-time Tulane University students are required to carry adequate medical insurance.
Each year, full-time students must either enroll in the University-sponsored student health insurance plan by United Healthcare (UHC), or waive enrollment in this plan by providing proof of other adequate coverage. The UHC annual premium will be evenly split between the fall and spring semesters.

Notes about filing a waiver:

The online waiver form must be completed each year during the Fall semester (or in the Spring semester for students enrolling as full-time for the first time).
Failure to complete the online waiver form will result in the student's automatic enrollment in the UHC Student Medical Insurance Plan.
Premium charges cannot be removed after the September waiver deadline.

Please review your current medical coverage to ensure that you have adequate medical coverage when you are living away from home. Some students are only reimbursed for out-of-network service and some not at all if your insurer is an HMO such as Kaiser-Permanente. Plans underwritten by Blue Cross-Blue Shield will not normally cover the costs of any non-physician services performed at the Student Health Center. As a result, it is recommended that the student take the SHC script for Lab or Pharmacy to an off-campus Blue Cross Provider. The Student Health Center does not charge full-time students for physician services.

Part-time, dissertation, executive program students and previously enrolled dependents are not automatically enrolled. As a result, these students must enroll online to obtain the student insurance.
