Illnesses that involve upper respiratory complaints, such as cold symptoms, sore throat, cough, congestion and suspected sinus infections will generally need to be evaluated by a nurse to help determine if an appointment with a physician is necessary. If you would like to speak to a nurse before coming in, try our Nurse Advice service.
If you have an urgent problem please let the receptionist know so she can refer you/your call to a nurse. Often, students who are urgently ill will have a nurse evaluate them, provide care and arrange evaluation by a provider.
We are open 9am to 1pm on Saturdays and some holidays for acute care that cannot wait until Monday morning clinic. If you are sick and not sure if you need to be seen, call primary care reception, 504 865-5255 ext 1, to have a nurse return your call. If you are sick and feel you need to be seen, please come as early as possible.
