The Tulane Presidential Chain of Office -- representing the president's authority as head of the university-- features a medal of the university seal suspended from a chain. The medal and all links of the chain are made of brushed sterling silver. The chain links embody two repeated motifs: a stylized TU shield drawn from architectural details on the facades of Tilton Hall and Robert C. Cudd Hall, and oak leaves portraying the stately trees that line the Tulane campus. Alan Hill of Symmetry Jewelers designed the chain of office. Hill earned a bachelor of science from Tulane in 1973.
