AMERICAN PEDIATRIC SOCIETY (APS) / SOCIETY FOR PEDIATRIC RESEARCH (SPR), STUDENT RESEARCH PROGRAM

Summer Student Research Program available from the APS/SPR. The summer research program provides interested medical school students with the following:

  •   Research experience at an institution other than your own medical school
  •   Two to three months (40-hour weeks) in a research environment
  •    A stipend of $62.43 per day or a maximum of $5,619

U. S. and Canadian medical students seeking a research opportunity in pediatrics are encouraged to apply.  Currently more than 250 laboratories participate.

MINORITY MEDICAL STUDENT AWARD PROGRAM (MMSAP)

Who is eligible? Minority medical students from the United States or Canada who are enrolled in a DO, MD, or MD/PhD program.

The award consists of a $5,000 stipend; travel allowances to the American Society of Hematology (ASH) annual meeting; complimentary subscriptions to Blood, the official journal of ASH, and The Hematologist, ASH's newsletter.

Application Deadline: Request a Mentor Deadline is January 6, 2014 and the Application deadline is March 10, 2015.

PISACANO LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION

The Pisacano Scholars Leadership program is designed to provide educational programs, leadership training, and funding to reimburse a portion of medical-school-related debt.  Scholarships will be awarded to outstanding medical students for a four-year period.  Students who have made a commitment to the field of family medicine and who will enter their fourth year in medical school in the fall of 2015 may apply.  The PLF will award scholarships with a maximum value of $28,000 each for the 2015-2016 academic year.

The application deadline: applications must be received by March 2, 2015 to be considered.

CEDARS-SINAI, 2015 NEUROSCIENCE STUDENT RESEARCH AWARD

The 2015 Pauletta and Denzel Washington Family Gifted Scholars in Neuroscience Award is available to medical students  The selected awardee will be hired in a paid position for (1) year to conduct research in a Department of Neurosurgery laboratory. The annual salary range is between $30,000 to $34,000 depending on experience.  For more information:

BUCKFIRE & BUCKFIRE, P.C. 2015 MEDICAL SCHOOL DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP

The $2,000 scholarship is awarded to a medical school student currently attending an accredited medical school and is either a member of an ethnic, racial, or other minority, or demonstrates the commitment to issues of diversity within their academic career.
