UNITED HEALTH FOUNDATION AND NATIONAL MEDICAL FELLOWSHIPS, INC.
The United Health Foundation and National Medical Fellowships, Inc. are pleased to
announce a new service-learning opportunity - the United Health Foundation/National Medical
Fellowships Diverse Medical Scholars Program - for outstanding US underrepresented minority
medical students to engage in community service, develop critical skills, and join an active
collegial network. This program will award 22 qualified underrepresented minority medical students who demonstrate leadership at an early stage of their careers and a commitment to serving medically underserved communities. The United Health Foundation/National Medical Fellowships Diverse Medical Scholars will receive
a $7,000 scholarship to conduct a self-directed community health project of 200 hours at a community site in a medically underserved community.
Eligible candidates must be enrolled in an accredited medical school in:
• New York (specifically greater metropolitan New York City area - NY, CT, PA, NJ)
• Florida (Greater Miami area and Orlando)
• Louisiana (New Orleans/Baton Rouge/Shreveport)
• Georgia (Atlanta)

MINORITY MEDICAL STUDENT AWARD PROGRAM (MMSAP)
Who is eligible? Minority medical students from the United States or Canada who are enrolled in a DO, MD, or MD/PhD program.
The award consists of a $5,000 stipend; travel allowances to the American Society of Hematology (ASH) annual meeting; complimentary subscriptions to Blood, the official journal of ASH, and The Hematologist, ASH's newsletter.
Application Deadline: Request a Mentor Deadline is January 6, 2014 and the Application deadline is March 4, 2014.
PISACANO LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION
The Pisacano Scholars Leadership program is designed to provide educational programs, leadership training, and funding to reimburse a portion of medical-school-related debt. Scholarships will be awarded to outstanding medical students for a four-year period. Students who have made a commitment to the field of family medicine and who will enter their fourth year in medical school in the fall of 2014 may apply. The PLF will award scholarships with a maximum value of $28,000 each for the 2014-2015 academic year.

CHINESE AMERICAN PHYSICIANS SOCIETY
Who is eligible? Needy medical students from various races.
Award amount: The awards consist of four scholarships of $2,000 to $4,000.

AMERICAN PEDIATRIC SOCIETY AND SOCIETY FOR PEDIATRIC RESEARCH (APS and SPR)
APS and SPR are offering an opportunity to medical students who wish to participate in research in a pediatric laboratory/research group at a medical school other than their own.
Award Amount: This program will provide a maximum stipend of $5,508 ($61.20 per day) and will enable each student to spend two to three months working 40 hours per week in a research environment.

WOMEN IN MEDICINE
Women in Medicine (womeninmedicine.org) has two $5,000 LGBT Leadership Scholarships available for medical students this year. Women in Medicine is an organization which through its annual conference, provides a supportive, empowering and educational environment for lesbian and other sexual minority female physicians, including residents and medical students. At the annual conference, which the students must attend if they are selected as a scholarship recipient, students participate in a Mentoring Program.
