Dean's Honor Scholarship

General Information
Deans' Honor Scholarships are merit-based scholarships offered to approximately 100 incoming first-time freshmen applicants by the Office of Undergraduate Admission. The scholarships cover full tuition (and mandatory fees for students initially enrolling at Tulane in the fall of 2014) are renewable for four years (five years for students pursuing the five-year accredited professional track in Architecture) provided the student maintains a 3.00 cumulative grade point average and continuous enrollment in a full-time undergraduate division.

Typical scholarship recipients rank in the top 5 percent of the class, have a rigorous academic program with honors and advanced placement courses, and have an outstanding record of extracurricular activities and score near the top of the range in a college admission test.

Students may not receive a Dean's Honor Scholarship in combination with any other Tulane merit scholarship, ROTC scholarship, Faculty-Staff Tuition Waiver or Tuition Exchange Scholarship. Students may combine the award with a partial athletic scholarship. Students offered a Dean's Honor Scholarship may qualify for need-based aid. Students guilty of violations of the Code of Student Conduct or Code of Academic Conduct will forfeit all remaining portions of the Dean's Honor Scholarship that they have been offered.

Application Procedure
In order to be eligible for the Dean’s Honor Scholarship, you must first submit your application for admission and all supporting documents by the Early Action/Single Choice Early Action deadline of November 15. Submit the Dean’s Honor Scholarship application and the Scholarship Recommendation (in its own sealed envelope with your teacher’s signature across the seal) by December 15. Your Dean’s Honor Scholarship decision will be made in late February and sent to you separately.

The Dean's Honor Scholarship application may be found on the Office of Undergraduate Admission website, at http://www.admission.tulane.edu/aid/index.php

General Renewal Conditions
The scholarships are guaranteed to match the full-time tuition (and mandatory fees for those awarded to students who initially enrolled at Tulane in the fall of 2014) cost each year provided the student maintains a 3.00 cumulative grade point average and continuous enrollment in a full-time undergraduate division.

Seniors in their final semester who enroll less than full-time may still receive the scholarship, but the amount will be reduced by the amount of the tuition and mandatory fee reduction.

Other students who enroll in or drop to less than full-time in the fall semester will have their scholarship reduced by their tuition and mandatory fee reduction, if any. They will be allowed to retain their Dean's Honor Scholarship for the spring semester provided they enroll full-time, but may lose eligibility for all following years since the scholarship guidelines require that students maintain continuous full-time enrollment. Students who enroll in or drop to less than full-time in the spring semester will have their Dean's Honor Scholarship reduced by their tuition and mandatory fee reduction, if any, but may lose eligibility for the scholarship in future semesters.

Students who take an approved leave of absence may regain their scholarship upon their return provided they continue to meet all academic and enrollment conditions and submit documentation verifying the approved leave of absence. Acceptable documentation is either a copy of their college's approved leave of absence form or a letter from their academic dean's office confirming the terms and length of the student's approved leave of absence.
