Energy Conservation

Energy conservation projects have resulted in a significant reduction of annual utility costs.  A baseline consumption was established and recorded for consumption of:

• chilled water
• electricity
• natural gas
• steam

As part of Tulane University's commitment to continuous improvement, the operations staff implements energy conservation measures through the following projects:

• well water reverse osmosis system
• condensate polisher system 
• boiler #1 low emissions control system
• boiler blowdown automation
• lighting retrofits
• inlet air cooling for cogeneration system
• building operating schedule control
• enthalpy control
