WaveMail Setup
Are you self migrating or having Technology Services automate the migration? Read below for self migration, click for auto migration.
Please first determine if you are eligible. Do you use CommVault, a Blackberry, or are you obligated to HIPPA compliance?
CommVault customers will be migrated starting August 1, 2011. These customers require more time to ensure a transparent migration because additional preparation is required to transfer their accounts.
Departments with Blackberry users and customers with HIPAA compliance obligations cannot be moved to the WaveMail system at this time. We will announce plans for an upgraded messaging environment for these customers in Fall 2011.
Self Migration
Before you begin:
- Determine the version of your Outlook.All faculty and staff should be using Outlook 2010 for Windows or Outlook 2011 for Mac, which is available to you free of charge (for installation on Tulane owned computers).
We encourage you to upgrade if you are using an older version. If you are using another client such as Eudora or Thurnderbird and do not want to change to Outlook, you should consider automated migration.

- If you will be installing this new version of Outlook you will need to configure the old mail settings to aid in migration:

When you are ready to make the switch to WaveMail:
- Outlook should already be configured with your existing email account. (See step 2 above).
- Activate Your WaveMail Account
To activate WaveMail, you should perform the following steps:
- Click here to go to the WaveMail Activation Portal.
- Enter your Tulane Username and Password in the proper fields. Click Activate.
This will be the first part of your email address, before the @, such as ptulane or scowen and your existing password.

- The Activation is successful! screen will appear. In 20 minutes, your WaveMail account will be fully activated and ready to use. Please wait 20 minutes and then, you can migrate your Tulane email to WaveMail.

- Add WaveMail settings to your Outlook profile or other email client

- Drag All Email, Contacts, Calendar, Notes, and Tasks from the old account to the new WaveMail mailbox. Synchronization may take some time to complete, please wait until Outlook says "All Folders Are Up To Date" before closing.

- Set up a new profile in Outlook that will contain just the WaveMail account and make this profile the default: Add a new profile in Outlook
