Virtual volunteering describes volunteers who complete tasks off-site through the Internet or other social media platforms. It is similar to in-person volunteering, but the work takes place remotely. Managers select specific volunteers, assign them tasks, and review the quality of their work. The following are examples of a few virtual volunteering tasks: translating documents, creating a database, tutoring or mentoring students, editing or writing proposals.
