The Tulane AmeriCorps Fellows Program will support 8 committed volunteers in an AmeriCorps VISTA placement. During their fellowship, Tulane AmeriCorps Fellows will be placed in local non-profits dealing with poverty eradication that have a relationship with Tulane. Community partners range from start-ups to mainstay institutions that have served the New Orleans community for decades and offer service placement opportunities to match every interest. Fellows will work in the community Monday through Thursday and will receive professional development and have program meetings on Fridays on campus.
During their fellowship period, Fellows will receive:
Upon completion of their fellowship term, Fellows will receive the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award, approximately $5,800 that participants can apply towards their student loans or further education (some restrictions apply). Tulane will provide Fellows an additional $5,000 in tuition assistance toward a Tulane graduate degree program. This additional funding would only be available for the year immediately following their fellowship year and only available to students who graduate from Tulane and participate in this program immediately following their undergraduate graduation. Tulane will also recognize the Fellows’ year of service through an official certificate awarded by the Center for Public Service’s faculty executive committee.
