Descriptions: Clinical experience interns will work directly in the field as third riders on New Orleans EMS ambulances. They will participate directly in patient care. Clinical experience interns are also expected to participate in a biweekly update with the Director of New Orleans EMS and to produce a deliverable.

Final Product Special Instructions:Clinical experience interns will be third riders on New Orleans EMS ambulances. They will be integral in providing patient care and expanding their practical experience in the field of prehospital healthcare. They will be expected to complete a project or deliverable based upon their individual interests and in consultation with the Director of New Orleans EMS.

Background Checks is Required. Due to the nature of this experience, a background check and interview is required.
Immunization is Required. Immunizations required for working in a healthcare setting are required.
Certification is Required EMT-Basic or above, CPR for Healthcare Provider
Other requirement: Additional requirements include bloodborne pathogen training and field training in the use of NOEMS clinical equipment.
Some students prefer to bring their own stethoscope and blood pressure cuff.
Students need to buy certain stuff like Reproduction costs, office supplies, safety equipment/gear, etc.
The cost will not be reimbursed. Students are expected to wear the volunteer uniform (details upon request) The CP requests emergency contact information.Emergency contact information will be required for all participants and used only in an emergent situation.
Evaluations/surveys will be requested by community partner to be completed by students.
Evaluations are completed at every ambulance ride shift so that we can evaluate our employees who act as field trainers and guides. We do this to ensure students receive the best possible guidance and support. Students are not allowed to take pictures or video.
Specific Policies: HIPPA policies apply to all clients in the healthcare setting.

Availability Requirements:12 hour shifts available all week

Work will be on an NOEMS ambulance in the City of New Orleans.
Transportation options:good to have vehicle
Check-in at the site: Check in will be through sign in on agency provided sheet with verification by supervisor.
Students track their hours at site: On NOEMS activity log.
Students will work unsupervised:Students may work individually delivering patient care to clients.
