Requirements

Background Checks is Required. Any person wishing to volunteer through CIS New Orleans at a public school in a capacity which will involve repeated contact with students over a period of time must undergo background checks.
Other requirement: Volunteers should be interested in working with kids, dependable and patient.
The CP requests emergency contact information.Emergency contact information will only be used, if an emergency occurs while student is mentoring with CIS New Orleans.
Evaluations/surveys will be requested by community partner to be completed by students.
All CIS volunteers will complete an exit evaluation at the end of their term. The information gathered will be used to improve the volunteer experience for future volunteers.
Students are not allowed to take pictures or video.
Specific Policies: All interactions with children are strictly confidential, unless a child reveals information that he/she is in danger, this information must be reported to a supervisor.

Students will work within one of the nine CIS partner schools.

Supervision and Risk

Check-in at the site: All schools require visitors to sign-in and show a photo ID at the main office.
Students track their hours at site: Each school has a binder in which students will record volunteer hours every session.
