Descriptions: The Scott S. Cowen Institute for Public Education Initiatives operates as an action-oriented think tank that catalyzes the transformation of the K-12 public education system in New Orleans and beyond. It serves as an objective voice about what?s taking place in K-12 education in the city and state to legislators, policymakers, educators, media, and community leaders. The Cowen Institute develops and advances research-based policies and legislation to solve the challenges facing public schools, mainly in the areas of finances, governance, accountability, and facilities. It also serves as a incubator of initiatives to engage Tulanians in the efforts to improve educational opportunities for public school students, as well as programs to improve college readiness for local public high school students. The Cowen Institute is seeking a Interactive Communications Intern to assist with the development of multimedia communications materials that reflect Tulane?s institutional support of K-12 education in New Orleans. During the internship, the student will be responsible for developing photos, film and/or video for use in various mediums (e.g., website, podcasts, blog and social media) to highlight the efforts of the Cowen Institute as well as other Tulane groups working to support K-12 public education. The ideal intern would have experience in film and/or media production, including researching, shooting and editing. Creativity is a must!
